Seattle @ San Francisco
Team Totals: 49ers 24.5, Seahawks 16.5
Albeit fully unimpressed with his ball location, delivery, and decision-making in Week 1’s embarrassing loss to the Bears, I’m giving Trey Lance a pass based on the monsoon-ish weather in Chicago. Week 2 offers Lance a strong chance at redemption versus a Seattle team primed for a letdown on a short-week road trip following its emotional primetime win over career Seahawk Russell Wilson. I do have no doubt Kyle Shanahan will eventually consider inserting Jimmy Garoppolo if Lance’s fundamental struggles persist. Lance is a boom-bust QB1 here. … With Elijah Mitchell (MCL) on the shelf for two months, hard-charging, max-effort power back Jeff Wilson is first in line for lead duties against a Seahawks defense that last year conceded the league’s fourth-most fantasy points to running backs, then in Week 1 yielded 19/101/0 (5.3 YPC) rushing and a league-high 14 receptions to Broncos RBs. The 49ers’ comfort in Wilson’s pass-protection skills further gives him a leg up on rookies Jordan Mason and Tyrion Davis-Price, especially considering San Francisco’s raw quarterback and problematic interior offensive line.
