Minnesota @ Green Bay
Team Totals: Vikings 21.5, Packers 20.5
The Vikings visit Lambeau on a short week and in a potential letdown spot following last Monday night’s monster upset of San Francisco. Kirk Cousins turned in one of his career-best games in primetime. He now catches a depleted Packers defense that lost CB Eric Stokes (hamstring) and SS Darnell Savage (calf) to I.R., although Stokes wasn’t a big early-season contributor, and Savage has been a liability for a while. On the season, Green Bay has held enemy quarterbacks to the league’s eighth-fewest fantasy QB points. Only eight teams are allowing fewer yards per pass attempt than the Packers (6.1), and just three have coughed up fewer passing TDs (6). Especially in such a low-totaled contest, I’m trying to avoid chasing Justin Jefferson-less Cousins’ Week 7 box-score result into Week 8. … Alexander Mattison tweaked his neck against the 49ers — costing him playing time to Cam Akers — but didn’t appear on Week 8’s injury report. Green Bay has been ethered by enemy backs for 154.3 total yards per game. Mattison remains a dicey flex option with a continually to-be-determined weekly role. Akers hasn’t reached a playable point.
Cousins’ 2023 targets: T.J. Hockenson 59; Jordan Addison 44; K.J. Osborn 37; Mattison 31; Brandon Powell 16; Josh Oliver 12; Akers 8. … Hockenson is a volume machine, having drawn 8+ targets in six of seven games. Including playoffs, the 2018 Mackey Award winner has 108 catches in his last 17 Vikings appearances.
