Bryce Young looked like a whole new quarterback over the second half of last season, and the Panthers invested the eighth overall pick into bulking up his WR corps. Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan is headed to Carolina, where he could compete for the WR1 job right off the bat. Let’s break down what to expect from McMillan in Year 1, as well as how this pick affects other Carolina players.
TET MCMILLAN
- McMillan is 6-foot-4 and 219 pounds with a basketball and volleyball background and dominated at the catch point in college, flashing elite ball skills and body control. Lance Zierlein and Daniel Jeremiah both compared him to Drake London. Scouts note that he lacks high-end burst and perhaps leaned too much on his contested-catch ability — rather than actually creating separation — in college, something he’ll need to fix in the pros to avoid going the way of N’Keal Harry and Quentin Johnston. He boasts the ideal collegiate production profile, going 39/702/8 with a 25% Dominator Rating (a stat that measures what percent of a team’s overall passing offense a single player controlled) as a true freshman and then followed that up with a true 31% Dominator, 1,402-yard season as a sophomore. “Tet” also has the long-term pedigree as a high four-star high school player. McMillan spent just three years at Arizona before declaring for the draft, another good sign historically for predicting NFL success. A big, highly productive WR with fantastic draft capital, McMillan should be an immediate producer in the pros and will be in fantasy starter consideration immediately.
