The Browns wasted little time filling their hole at running back, selecting Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins with the No. 36 overall pick. Judkins will immediately compete for starting duties in Cleveland, but the Browns don’t project to score many points. How does that balance project out for fantasy? Let’s dive in.
QUINSHON JUDKINS
- Judkins turned 274 carries into 1,567 yards and 16 rushing scores as a freshman at Ole Miss, immediately asserting himself as one of the best running backs in college football. His efficiency dipped pretty drastically – down to 4.3 yards per carry – as a sophomore on a similar workload, and he transferred to Ohio State for his final collegiate season. In Columbus, he split carries with TreVeyon Henderson, operating as the “thunder” in a thunder-and-lightning RB duo. Judkins’ efficiency jumped back to 5.5 YPC, but he was still significantly less efficient than Henderson (7.1). At 221 pounds, Judkins has the size to handle a heavy workload (and get goal-line and short-yardage carries) at the next level. Daniel Jeremiah believes Judkins is a competent screen and checkdown option already, but scouts widely believe he has room for improvement as a pass-catcher (Henderson specialized in that area for Ohio State last year). Overall, Judkins isn’t as explosive as his Ohio State counterpart but is better-suited for a large workload, and he has three-down potential in the pros.
