Saturday is usually a quiet off day in the NFL. But this Saturday brought a unique about of slate-altering news. Here is how I’m handling the four news pieces of the day.
As always, our Projections and Top Plays update to reflect the news. You can also check out Evan Silva’s Matchups Update Log later Saturday night.
1. Jonathan Taylor ruled out for Sunday
Taylor (COVID list) is out and the Colts did not call up another RB. That leaves only Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins on the active roster at the position for a game Pat Thorman identified as an Up Pace one. The Titans have given up the fifth-most points to fantasy running backs and are 31st against RBs in our DvP model.
We are currently projecting Hines and Wilkins to get between 11-13 carries each. We are projecting Hines for 5.5 targets and Wilkins for 2.3. That’s enough to make Hines our second-best RB value on DraftKings at his $4600 tag and one of the best RB plays on FanDuel at his $5700 tag.
I prefer Hines even at the extra salary vs. Wilkins for the floor that the pass-catching role provides. He’s been targeted on 18% of his snaps this season, which isn’t surprising considering Philip Rivers’ RB target rate and Hines’ skill set. If Hines got less than four targets against the Titans, I’d be shocked.
2. Kendall Hinton expected to be Broncos QB Sunday
Drew Lock and the other three quarterbacks on Denver’s roster have been ruled out due to COVID-related issues. The expectation is that practice squad WR Kendall Hinton will start Sunday’s home game against the Saints. Hinton was a quarterback at Wake Forest for three seasons (2015-18), completing just 53% of his
