The day after the deadline is always a tough one for content with so many new pieces in there. On top of not having much of a sample, we may not even know who is going to play today from the trades. I’ll just hit the macro notes and add on how the trades could impact things.

San Antonio Spurs (front end) at Charlotte Hornets
Team Totals: Spurs 117.3, Hornets 106.8
Injury Report: LaMelo Ball (Q, ankle), Josh Green (P, calf)
Spurs projected starters: Chris Paul, De’Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes, Victor Wembanyama
Hornets projected starters: K.J. Simpson, Nick Smith Jr., Josh Green, Miles Bridges, Moussa Diabate (Note: Think LaMelo is out, don’t think Jusuf Nurkic plays)
Mitch quotes: Said the CP3 lineup is what will start for the foreseeable future, said he’s proud of the resolve of the team to get the win after the Hawks pulled off a big comeback, said their offense had momentum before Fox and now it “unlocks more potential” with Fox.
Lee quotes: Said he thought K.J. showed up in a “great developmental stride” in his first NBA start, said Micic hurt his ankle again on Monday and he didn’t have it during warmups, said Salaun executed with the G League team and he “had more purpose” behind his play, said Salaun wasn’t backing down from the matchup.
Stats and Notes:
*The Spurs are really struggling on the defensive end and their starting lineup is really small out there. We’ve seen the Spurs get killed inside, and their defense has ranked 29th in their last 10 games. Even with Wemby, they are really getting beat inside lately, and their transition defense has been a complete disaster in their last six games. For the Hornets, they’re really going to miss Vasa Micic and Mark Williams. They just do not have enough on offense, but their defense may still be able to hold up. They have been slipping a little in their last two games, but losing Williams should help their defense overall.
