Raiders Passing Game
Derek Carr’s efficiency in Jon Gruden’s second year jumped to No. 9 in QB rating (100.8) and No. 10 in yards per attempt (7.9), even in an offense that lost marquee acquisition Antonio Brown before the year and fill-in No. 1 WR Tyrell Williams’ effectiveness to a debilitating foot injury. Despite Carr’s above-par play, Gruden and GM Mike Mayock signed off on former No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota’s two-year, $17.6 million deal. Over the last three seasons, the Raiders are 17-31, 28th in points scored, and -355 in point differential. Their aggressive investment into Mariota combined with Carr’s imposing early-season schedule puts him at considerable benching risk. Within its first six games, Las Vegas draws the Saints, Patriots, Bills, Chiefs, and Tom Brady’s Bucs. Avoid low-floor, low-ceiling quarterbacks in fantasy.
