Bucs Passing Game

Tom Brady signed with Tampa Bay on a two-year, $50 million deal, joining Bruce Arians’ historically vertically-inclined offense as a short-area, 43-year-old passer. Tampa’s 2020 offense will likely be geared toward Brady’s strengths under Arians, who coached the best out of Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer, and rookie-year Andrew Luck, and understands how to build a quarterback-centric attack. Complemented by a potentially dominant defense, the Bucs’ pass game is unlikely to be nearly as potent as last year’s group, replacing league turnover leader Jameis Winston with takeaway-averse Brady. Even with star-studded weaponry, Brady projects as a low-ceiling, fringe QB1 best deployed by Arians as a game manager. Tampa Bay also drew an unfavorable early-season passing schedule, facing the talented pass defenses of New Orleans, Denver, L.A. Chargers, Chicago, and Green Bay all within the first six weeks.
