L.A. Rams @ Washington
Team Totals: Rams 26.5, Commanders 21
Rams-Commanders is another game involving a West Coast team traveling east for a 1:00 p.m. ET start, a scenario that can lead to unexpected outcomes. … The Commanders lost both starting defensive tackles for the year — Daron Payne (Jones fracture) and Javon Kinlaw (MCL surgery) — and are thus ill-equipped to defend Los Angeles’ multi-dimensional rushing attack, which is firing on all cylinders, blocked up by league-high usage of three-tight end 13 personnel. Jumbo packages have essentially become the Rams’ base offense. Payne ranked 19th among 128 qualified interior D-Linemen in PFF’s run-defense grades; Kinlaw was 40th. Still the favorite for high-value touches in L.A.’s backfield, Kyren Williams is an every-week RB1. Blake Corum has hit pay dirt in four straight games and is averaging 13.3 touches over his last three. Corum is a low-end RB2 and an elite flex start. … Matthew Stafford was seen with an ice bag wrapped around his right (throwing) elbow following last week’s win. “He’s had some soreness there,” Sean McVay acknowledged. Stafford turns 39 in February. Stafford’s pass attempts total has also fallen in four straight games (54 > 33 > 29 > 25). Because Stafford doesn’t run, he needs lofty passing volume and efficiency to deliver fantasy-viable results. The good news is that this is a mouthwatering matchup — Washington has allowed the NFL’s third-most fantasy QB points — and the game has shootout potential.
