Even with San Francisco’s defensive talent extraordinarily depleted by injuries, DC Robert Saleh has kept his unit competitive enough to hold seven of its last 10 quarterbacks faced to fantasy finishes of QB15 or worse. Yet the 49ers’ pass rush hasn’t recovered – they’re bottom 10 in sacks (20) and bottom five in QB hits (50) – and Saleh’s group has allowed a league-high 335 QB rushing yards. Allen’s passer rating improves from 80.5 when pressured (No. 14 among 40 qualifiers) to 113.4 (No. 9) when clean, and only five quarterbacks have run for more yards (311). Still sorely missing John Brown (ankle, I.R.), I’m viewing Allen as a boom-bust play this week. … Although Devin Singletary out-touched Zack Moss 14 to 11 in last week’s post-bye win over the Chargers, Moss (60%) continued to out-snap Singletary (40%), while Singletary lost an early fourth-quarter fumble that could jeopardize going-forward coaching-staff trust.
