Projecting a weather split can often get quite dicey, especially when it comes to the PGA Tour opting to delay the tournament instead of sending the golfers out in the max predicted winds. But even so, the conditions played out almost exactly to what we had anticipated and an unprecedented four-stroke advantage was in play for one side of the wave. So, absolute kudos to Fade nailing it, and even with the field jamming in at least five golfers from the AM/PM wave at a 40% clip, there was still plenty of ways to get unique and have high-upside opportunities. Credit to ole Jeremy using this to his advantage, too, taking second in the Long Drive and leaving me a very uphill battle to climb in the final few events. The fight isn’t over, though, and one more solo ship will put him into a costume come the Travelers!
Getting back into the consistency of reviewing the previous week’s selection, I was rather proud of how the eight pack of picks performed in Vegas. The lone two missed cuts were Ben Kohles and Nick Hardy, who both actually played almost identical to their incoming form. Incredibly good iron play paired with absolutely atrocious short games had them nowhere near the cut line. It was a really tough pill to swallow with Kohles, who did it from the right side of the wave at decent ownership. But the positive side to me far outweighed those two swing-and-misses.
