Cincinnati @ Dallas
Team Totals: Bengals 24.5, Cowboys 17
This game’s fantasy appeal plummeted when Dallas lost Dak Prescott (thumb) for 4-8 weeks; the total on Bengals-Cowboys had easy 50-plus-point potential prior to Week 1 but is now third lowest on the slate. While I do expect Joe Burrow to play better this week than last — he committed five turnovers and took seven sacks against the Steelers — the Opening Day showing of Cincy’s rebuilt O-Line fell far short of expectations, and it now draws a loaded Dallas defensive front on the road. Especially with Tee Higgins’ (concussion) status in question, I’m approaching Burrow as a boom-bust QB1 play here. … Albeit inflated by Week 1’s overtime date with Pittsburgh wherein the Bengals ran an obviously unrepeatable 94 offensive plays, it was promising to see Joe Mixon bank career highs in routes run (38) and targets (9) and touch the ball 34 times. Samaje Perine continued to operate as the Bengals’ clear-cut No. 2 back, while Chris Evans played only on special teams. Carved up by Leonard Fournette for 21/127/0 (6.0 YPC) rushing in Week 1, the Cowboys’ defense looked vulnerable to the run against a depleted Bucs offensive line. Matchup, projected usage, and projected game script cement Mixon as an exciting RB1 starter.
