Thursday Night Football

Denver @ NY Jets
Team Totals: Broncos 20.5, Jets 19.5

Broncos coach Vic Fangio announced second-year UDFA Brett Rypien of Boise State will start Thursday night at MetLife Stadium but suggested Week 3 starter Jeff Driskel could also see playing time. Newly signed Blake Bortles is another option should Fangio want a look at all three of his healthy quarterbacks. In all likelihood, Rypien will play start to finish, albeit with one of the league’s weakest supporting casts. No. 1 WR Courtland Sutton (ACL) is out for the year, while Denver is down to its third right tackle (35-year-old Demar Dotson) after Ja’Wuan James opted out and Elijah Wilkinson (broken shinbone) went on I.R. Over the past two weeks, Denver quarterbacks have combined to absorb a whopping 29 hits and 13 sacks. This might be the only week all year where the Jets’ D/ST is stream-able. … Even with Phillip Lindsay (toe) apparently due back, Melvin Gordon is the most confident fantasy play on either side in this game; enemy backs have peeled off a cool 74/344/3 (4.65 YPC) rushing line against Gang Green, which has also surrendered the league’s sixth most running back catches (20). Limited in practice all week, Lindsay is also likely to be limited in Thursday night’s game coming off his tricky turf-toe injury.
