Fantasy’s overall QB15 through five starts, Josh Dobbs has earned every-week starter treatment in two-QB/Superflex leagues and low-end streamer consideration in season-long formats. The Rams are posing a middling matchup for opposing passers but have allowed the NFL’s fifth-most QB rushing yards (137) and a league-high three rushing TDs to quarterbacks. Dobbs is seventh at his position in rushing attempts (27) and sixth in rushing yards (142). … With James Conner (MCL) on I.R., Arizona’s backfield projects to belong to some combo of ineffective sophomore Keaontay Ingram and UDFA rookie Emari Demercado. A 2022 sixth-round pick, Ingram missed Weeks 4-5 with a neck injury. In 15 career appearances, Ingram is averaging a microscopic 1.9 yards on 39 carries and just 4.8 yards per target. Saints third-round pick Kendre Miller’s backup at TCU, Demercado parlayed 11 touches into 57 yards and a score off the bench in Week 5. I’m siding with Demercado as the preferred flex gamble against the Rams and expecting the Cardinals’ coaching staff to try to ride a “hot hand” during Conner’s potentially month-plus absence.
Dobbs’ 2023 target distribution: Marquise Brown 42; Zach Ertz 34; Michael Wilson 18; Rondale Moore 17; Conner and Trey McBride 10; Demercado 9. … Albeit never a comfortable fantasy play, Brown has earned every-week WR3 treatment by dominating targets and Air Yards share (43%) in Arizona’s wideout unit while capitalizing on Dobbs’ surprisingly competent passing.
