Even while rhetoric out of Indianapolis has alluded to an increased pass-game commitment, the Colts’ optimal Week 1 game plan at Houston would be to hammer Jonathan Taylor hard. Taylor ethered Texans HC Lovie Smith’s defense for touches/yardage/TDs totals of 15/158/2 and 32/143/2 in last year’s two meetings, while the Colts have been installed as 7-point road favorites, suggesting they’ll encounter run-friendly game script. … Frank Reich promoted an expanded role for Nyheim Hines all offseason, believable since Hines is a passing-game playmaker, and the Colts are short in that department beyond Michael Pittman. I still think Hines will be a better fantasy bet in games where Indy is likely to trail. They’re among Week 1’s biggest favorites here. … 37-year-old Matt Ryan reached 300 yards in just 4-of-17 starts last season and threw more than two touchdowns once all year. Ryan should be an excellent game manager and fine two-quarterback-league start but lacks QB1 streamer appeal.
