N.Y. Giants @ Tennessee
Team Totals: Titans 24.5, Giants 19
I received a phone call from a veteran Giants beat writer late this week. These were my takeaways from our conversation: Saquon Barkley is fully healthy and looks great, and the new Giants coaching regime fully intends on feeding him the football until he simply can’t handle anymore. … Sterling Shepard — who tore his Achilles last Week 15 — will be a Week 1 starter and play ahead of Kadarius Toney, in whom the staff has lost trust. … Toney looks set to open the season as New York’s No. 4 wideout after an entirely lackluster summer. The Giants will deploy a true WRBC rotation with Shepard aligning opposite Kenny Golladay and Wan’Dale Robinson on the first team. … Fourth-round rookie TE Daniel Bellinger is going to play a ton but looks like just a guy. This has to be the weakest tight end depth chart in the league. … The Giants are also broke at tailback behind Saquon, further incentivizing their liberal use of Barkley. … Daniel Jones’ supporting cast is a real concern, but the Giants are going to let him run under first-year coach Brian Daboll, which should give Jones fantasy life even if his passing efficiency is an adventure. In Week 1, it surely helps that the G-Men will face Tennessee without sack specialist Harold Landry (ACL).
