The Raiders return from their Week 8 bye following consecutive post-Jon Gruden victories in which Las Vegas dropped point totals of 34 (@ DEN) and 33 (vs. PHI) under new playcaller Greg Olson, who has emphasized play-action passing and highlighted Derek Carr ’s newfound confidence as a downfield thrower. Carr has averaged a scintillating 10.9 yards per pass attempt since Gruden’s resignation. Yet Henry Ruggs’ probably career-ending drunk-driving crime deletes Vegas’ primary vertical threat and severely downgrades the Raiders’ wide receiver talent. Carr is a two-quarterback-league play only at MetLife Stadium.
