Thursday Night Football
Tennessee @ Pittsburgh
Team Totals: Steelers 19.5, Titans 16.5
Rookie Will Levis’ performance in his first NFL start reminded of early-career Josh Freeman, mixing big-armed vertical throws with dumps and screens and little in between. On a short week entering a hostile environment against Pittsburgh’s intimidating pass rush behind one of the NFL’s worst offensive lines, Week 9 will pose a far tougher test than Week 8’s home date with Atlanta. I’m not ready to anoint Levis a viable QB1 streamer just yet. … One trade deadline rumor stated the Titans and Ravens had a deal in place that would’ve sent Derrick Henry to Baltimore, although it was disputed by Tennessee reporters. Either way, Henry can anticipate another hefty workload against a Steelers defense surrendering the league’s eighth-most fantasy points to running backs, including a crisp 4.44 yards per carry. Henry is averaging 19.7 touches over the Titans’ last six games. No. 2 RB Tyjae Spears hasn’t topped 11 all year.
Levis’ Week 8 target distribution: Hopkins and Chig Okonkwo 6; Henry and Spears 4; Kyle Philips 3; Treylon Burks and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine 2. … Rekindling my first-paragraph comp, Levis’ willingness to throw the ball up to Hopkins and trust him to win reminded me of Freeman doing so with Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson.
