Carolina @ Tampa Bay
Team Totals: Bucs 23, Panthers 20
- Bryce Young has been a rough watch all season, but he can have statistical success here. This is a must-win game for both teams, and the Bucs’ already vulnerable pass defense is missing top CB Jamel Dean (shoulder). Dean is PFF’s No. 3-graded cornerback among 113 qualifiers.
- Likewise, this is a pop-up spot for Tetairoa McMillan, presently the league’s slight favorite for Offensive Rookie of the Year. McMillan tagged Todd Bowles’ secondary for 6/73/1 receiving on 10 targets in Week 16.
- Panthers TE Tommy Tremble is a DFS sleeper after Ja’Tavion Sanders broke his ankle in Week 17. The Bucs have allowed the NFL’s fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends.
- Baker Mayfield has been the main culprit in the Bucs’ second-half collapse; Tampa Bay has lost seven of its last eight games. Especially if the Bucs miss the playoffs, I think we’ll see GM Jason Licht clear out the coaching staff and bring in competition for Mayfield.
Score Prediction: Panthers 23, Bucs 20
