We’re back with another edition of Exploiting the Default Rankings for ESPN! ESPN did put out two different sets of rankings for points leagues and category leagues, so I’ll run through both sets. I stole this years ago from Adam Levitan, but I will say that this article for the NBA is much more valuable than for the NFL. There are just some terrible mispricings on so many guys, and the ESPN NFL ranks will not miss too many guys because of the demand. However, there are dozens of guys on the ESPN ranks who are ranked after 200 that shouldn’t be.

I’ll go over the players who I think are ranked higher than expected (meaning they are players I would not take there) and the players who are lower (meaning I will be taking these guys above where they are listed). Then I’ll hit on the lower-ranked players after 100 who I would take several rounds before their rank. Lastly, I’ll break down the guys after 200 and put them into subgroups for league depth.

PLAYERS LISTED HIGHER THAN EXPECTED (INSIDE TOP 100)

Chet Holmgren (10)

Scottie Barnes (14)

LaMelo Ball (20)

De’Aaron Fox (21)
