Welcome back for the eighth NFL GPP Leverage column of the season. If you missed the Week 1 edition of GPP Leverage, I recommend you take a minute to read the intro to get a feel for the goals of this column.

First off, massive shout-out to ETR subscriber Alexander Cole, who won the flagship Milly Maker last week! Alexander’s lineup featured an incredible Justin Herbert double stack that utilized the two lowest-owned pieces of the Chargers’ primary pass catchers, Keenan Allen and Oronde Gadsden II. Congrats, Alexander!

Week 7 was a strong week for GPP Leverage, as we hit on several ideas that proved to be impactful: We suggested that the Commanders-Cowboys matchup might not be the guaranteed smash the field expected it to be; we questioned the ceiling of the Patrick Mahomes chalk if the Raiders were unable to generate any offense; we highlighted the viability of building through cheap contrarian stacks, such as Bo Nix + Marvin Mims Jr.; and we considered the Colts-Chargers matchup as the best game for onslaughts and full game stacks. Sometimes our micro examples will hit like they did in Week 7, but more times than not, they won’t. More importantly, the macro thoughts of how to attack the slate also worked out in Week 7, and those macro strategies will generally prove to be most impactful in the long run. If we can continue building on how to approach and attack each slate, we should be able to have more sustained success in DFS tournaments, even when our micro takes aren’t as strong.

Here in Week 8, I want to continue considering macro strategies. Earlier this season, we examined how to win DFS tournaments in 2025 using data from the 2024 season. This week, we’ll review how the most successful lineups have been built so far in 2025 using the actual data from 2025 DFS tournaments. Of course, we’re working with very small sample sizes here, so we’ll discuss which trends may be sticky and which trends might be flukey along the way. Finally, we’ll consider how we can utilize these trends to attack the Week 8 main slate.
