Mermuys quotes: Said the zone coverage hurt them, said he went with Robin Lopez and Mo Bamba because “Nurkic is a big boy” and they wanted to keep Robin Lopez on him, said Bamba can help space the floor when Lopez is out there, said the coaches helped Jalen Suggs finishing around the basket and worked a lot on his left hand.
Rivers quotes: Talked about MLK.
Stats and Notes:
*The 76ers continue to play very slow these days while the Magic aren’t much better, and the 76ers will have a shot to blow out the Magic in the 215. Philly’s halfcourt defense has been good throughout the year while the Magic have hit a few rough patches. This isn’t a great spot here.
*The Magic have the personnel to limit Joel Embiid with either Robin Lopez or Wendell Carter Jr., so this isn’t an ideal spot. Of course, Embiid can bully basically everyone, so he’s always in play. I’m not going there.
*The 76ers lacking wings could really up the playing time for Tyrese Maxey. He’ll likely get a lot of Cole Anthony, which should be a spot where he can thrive. I’d also consider Seth Curry, but wouldn’t play them together.
*It’s basically a fade spot for the Magic. I’m fine playing Cole Anthony, and you could get into Mo Bamba even if Wendell Carter Jr. plays because Wendell is likely guarding Embiid. Plus, the Magic will be playing double center lineups a bunch regardless in this spot.
