New Orleans Pelicans (back end) at Charlotte Hornets

Team Totals: Pelicans 114, Hornets 120

Injury Report: Pels didn’t submit, Gordon Hayward (O, ankle)

Pelicans projected starters: C.J. McCollum, Devonte’ Graham, Herb Jones, Jaxson Hayes, Jonas Valanciunas

Hornets projected starters: LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, P.J. Washington, Mason Plumlee

Green quotes: Said he closed with Jose Alvarado because he was playing great and he wanted to put Herb on Bogdan (Jose guarded Trae Young), said he wants to put the ball in C.J.’s hands to close games.

Borrego quotes: Mentioned he liked how the starting unit played and talked up the team overall.

Stats and Notes:

*The Hornets are rolling as an offense, ranking first in O rating since the break. The Pelicans are actually playing a little faster these days, and they’ve been the No. 8 defense since the break. Teams continue to play fast against the Hornets, so this should be a pretty good game environment. Of course, the Pelicans may not have their legs after a close win in ATL last night. Plus, the Hornets put it on the Pelicans earlier this month with a 142-120 win (C.J. didn’t play).

*C.J. McCollum gets a decent matchup, as he’s likely getting a look at Terry Rozier. McCollum’s ball handling did get hit slightly last night as Jose Alvarado brought the ball up late, but he still had 15 potential assists and plenty of touch time. He’s a good, not great play.

*Jonas Valanciunas hasn’t really done too much damage in his minutes against Mason Plumlee, and we’ll see how he responds to the B2B. I wouldn’t go there today.

*If Devonte’ can’t go, Jose Alvarado would likely be looking at some decent minutes here. He had three fouls early against Trae, but Green having the confidence to keep him out there on Trae speaks volumes.

*It’s a pretty solid Rozier spot. The Pelicans get lit up from deep, and Herb Jones likely gets the LaMelo matchup (he guarded both in the last game). Rozier hit seven treys in the last game, and his minutes have been up there. I’d prefer him over LaMelo.

*It’s a big spot for Miles Bridges. The Pelicans may have to start Naji Marshall to throw him at Bridges, and he torched them in the last game with 27 points in 29 minutes.
