Pistons projected starters: Killian Hayes, Cade Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Jerami Grant, Isaiah Stewart
Nash quotes: Said he’s seen more improvement from Harden with drives and defense, said sometimes they run stuff for Joe Harris but most of the time it’s just find him when he’s open, talked a lot about shot quality lately.
Casey quotes: Said he liked Cade Cunningham taking a lot of shots, said he was not concerned with Cade’s slow start, has talked about how Killian handles the PG duties on both ends, Casey said they wanted to play with extra pace (they didn’t), said they wanted to put Cade on the ball a little more, said Killian said he was OK after his thumb injury.
Stats and Notes:
*We just saw these teams face off last week with the Nets getting an easy win 117-91. The Pistons couldn’t score at all with this game basically decided in the third quarter. With the Pistons coming off a B2B, even at home they’re probably not going to be able to hang. Plus, Casey will probably play even slower because his guys are likely a little tired coming off the B2B. The Pistons might rest players, as well.
*Dwane Casey is expecting Cade Cunningham to play in his first B2B set (missed one last weekend). The Pistons play extremely slow, and they’ve been even slower with Cade out there with Cade’s dead-last 95.1 pace among 202 players with 20-plus minutes per game. He will likely get Bruce Brown after he did take advantage of the 76ers going so small against him (saw a lot of Maxey, very little Thybulle). It’s the first game of the day, so we should know if he plays. He’s not a lock if we’re projecting high ownership again, though (in tourney, should be fine in cash, if cheap again).
*It’s a pretty hard sell here all around, but KD did absolutely smash on this team in 27 minutes with 23 points and Harden put up a triple-double in what looks like his breakout game to get him going. The Pistons also have the worst PPP in PNR for handlers, so Harden could really put up a big number on them if he gets it rolling. The lack of minutes upside in what should be a blowout will cap them, though.
