Preseason Top Plays: August 22

Preseason DFS is a different beast. Unlike the regular season, our main job is to identify players who will get the most playing time. Of course, that’s easier said than done. Our team spends an unhealthy amount of time researching to come up with the Depth Chart Notes and Top Plays (below). For Showdown slates, please be sure to consult Cody Main’s article. 

QUARTERBACK

TIER 1

Joe Milton III, Dallas – Oh boy, here we go again dot gif. There’s no other way to put it: Milton’s preseason showcase has been an utter disaster, but Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer isn’t shying away from this project, saying they “know what they have” in QB2 Will Grier and plan to once again give Milton the start, with the idea that he’ll play upwards of a full game again in the finale. He’s completed 55.3% of his passes for 5.6 YPA and a 1:2 TD-to-INT ratio, struggling to sustain drives, but we have to acknowledge this is still a relatively small sample, and even if every Milton dropback is worth fewer fantasy points than his peers listed below, the sheer volume should keep him in play.

Easton Stick, Atlanta – After their Week 1 game was suspended due to player injury, we theorized that Stick could exit early so the Falcons could get a longer look at then QB3 Emory Jones. That never came to fruition in Week 2, as Stick played on 53 of 64 snaps and now Jones has been waived. The team did add Ben DiNucci, who was most recently with Buffalo last season, and we do expect him to play, but there’s upside for Stick to once again dominate playing time for Atlanta in Week 3.
