Passing Game Outlook
Baker Mayfield is coming off an incredible season where he set career highs in pass attempts, completions, passing yards, passing TDs, yards per pass attempt, rushing yards, and rushing TDs en route to the QB3 overall finish in fantasy football, tied with Joe Burrow at 22.5 points per game. It’s hard to believe Mayfield was able to produce top-3 quarterback numbers, and even harder to imagine a repeat performance now that 2024 playcaller Liam Coen is the head coach in Jacksonville and All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs is expected to start on PUP after offseason knee surgery. Tampa Bay added some weaponry to Baker’s arsenal, however, drafting Emeka Egbuka in the first round to keep their wide receiver room a massive strength despite potential age and injury-related declines for Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Fantasy drafters are extremely excited about Mayfield following his career year, drafting him in the sixth round (66.3 ADP) according to FantasyPros’ consensus ADP. There’s no way I’m touching Mayfield at that price given all of the career highs he set last season, having to deal with his third offensive coordinator in three seasons, and the volatility we’ve seen from Baker throughout his career.
