After a frenetic offseason in the best ball streets, our beloved game of Daily Fantasy Sports has returned, as the PGA Tour tees it up at the Sony Open! It’s a week later than usual after The Sentry was cancelled, but it has built up the anticipation even more for what could be the last Hawaiian swing with pending schedule changes. But let’s push that drama to the side and focus on our task at hand, which is identifying low-owned long shots who have ceilings to be true difference-makers in GPPs.

For those who are new to Establish The Run, welcome aboard the best community that exists in the golf streets! Please join our Discord, as so many of our longtime members carry on the electricity 24/7. Over my past two seasons as a contributor, it’s been such a joy to get to know this group, and I take great pride in the opportunity with ETR. My niche within this deep team has been to have a deep focus on the diamonds in the rough, which has been my passion for following professional golf. I live for the stories this great game tells, and when there’s an opportunity to get an edge on the field by diving into a player’s mini-tour history or Monday qualifier results, you bet we are going to beat the industry on that.

The Value Report will highlight a handful of golfers each week, focusing on players whose DraftKings salaries are $7,500 or less and are expected to be single-digit owned. I write this article before projections or ownership are released, so there are disagreements, but that’s when the fun comes in. Finding that key piece or two that the field is overlooking is what makes DFS Golf such an enjoyable process, and I hope to help you with it in 2026. So, let’s get to it for the Sony Open!

Mac Meissner, $7,500 – After not posting a single top-20 finish from January through the middle of July, Mac Meissner flipped a switch, starting at the 3M Open. In his final seven events of the calendar year, Meissner went 7/7 on made cuts with four top 20s, which ultimately saved his PGA Tour card for this season. 2025 was Meissner’s second year on Tour, having quite an impressive rookie season, but his typical steady off-the-tee game was a disaster until that late stretch in the year. What never left, though, were his irons and around-the-green touch, which is the best way to play the Sony Open. His best event of the year was at the Wyndham Championship, another course testing those skill sets versus pure power. I’d be betting more on the Meissner of the fall swing, who was sneakily one of the best players in this whole field.
