Of all the events that fill in the bingo card for golf sickos like us, the Wyndham Championship had it all. I was truly gutted for Max Greyserman, as it has been an absolute treat to see his rise this summer, and I hope he’s able to see the positives from the position he put himself in. At the same time, Aaron Rai has probably had the most under-the-radar season of anyone in professional golf, and he very much earned being in the winner’s circle to close out the regular season. Then, with everyone’s jaw on the floor, Matt Kuchar pulled out what I think is the wildest move I have seen since following the game of golf to make us wait for the Monday morning half-hole finish. Overall, it was a perfect way to encapsulate the craziness that we live through tracking this sport all year long, and now, I’m excited to see the best compete in this final three-week stretch!

It felt quite overwhelming last week tracking a dozen golfers from the Value Report, and I basically would say we landed on what would be expected of the bunch. 50% of the group missed the weekend while the other half had two outstanding DK plays and four other middling finishes. Even though I’m on board with the spray-and-pray style, I think moving forward it makes sense to not expand the list as wide as what we did at the Wyndham. Among the positives, I was very happy with picking out a Charley Hoffman spike week, as they don’t happen too often. To no surprise, his first round was among the best in the field, but his ability to bounce back from bogeys was very eye-catching. Gary Woodland was another who absurdly outscored his finishing position. He was 28th in stroke play but tied for 14th in DraftKings points. Woodland remains on the cusp of a massive breakout. Gpiros fought hard to get Daniel Berger on to the weekend, but all of he, Justin Lower, and Jorge Campillo failed to kick on after looking like they had the opportunity. The hardest pill to swallow though was Chad Ramey, who tied for second at the halfway point but ended up outside of the top 50. He sat in that final group all day long but turned in two very poor showings on Sunday.
