Arizona @ Atlanta
Team Totals: Falcons 22, Cardinals 18.5
Beleaguered and injured with nothing to play for, the Cardinals visit Atlanta on a short week for an early-East Coast start. The Falcons’ D/ST is wholly playable after Trace McSorley committed three turnovers and engineered just one touchdown drive on 46 dropbacks in last Sunday night’s loss to Tampa Bay. … James Conner is the Cardinals’ lone confident Week 17 fantasy play facing a Falcons defense permitting the NFL’s 11th-most fantasy points to running backs. Conner is averaging 21.7 touches over his last six games. … Slot man Greg Dortch was Arizona’s lone pass catcher with whom McSorley showed a Week 16 connection, pacing the Cardinals in targets (11) and receiving (10/98/0) against the Bucs. DeAndre Hopkins was erased by quarterback play and stud CB Carlton Davis, while Marquise Brown’s snaps were somewhat chopped for disciplinary reasons. Neither A.J. Green nor Robbie Anderson was a meaningful factor. TE Trey McBride is scoreless on the season and has reached 30 yards once all year. Even against a forgiving Falcons pass defense, I loathe investing in Cardinals pass catchers with McSorley at QB.
