Mr. Irrelevant of 2022’s NFL Draft, Brock Purdy parlayed injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo into San Francisco’s quarterback job in Week 13 and led the 49ers to eight straight wins. Purdy tore the UCL in his right (throwing) elbow during the Niners’ playoff loss to Philadelphia and had surgery, although virtually all reports indicate his recovery is ahead of schedule. A ball distributor in the mold of past Kyle Shanahan QB successes Garoppolo, Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins, and Matt Schaub, Purdy has already been anointed the 49ers’ starter if healthy. It sounds like he will be by Week 1. Purdy is shaping up as an underrated QB2.
