L.A. Chargers @ Miami
Team Totals: Chargers 24.5, Dolphins 20
Injury depleted and losers of two in a row, the Chargers travel cross country to Miami for Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. ET game. (I’m taking the Fins to cover +4.5.) The Rashawn Slater– and Joe Alt-less Bolts are energizing defensive fronts, last week conceding five sacks and nine hits to Washington’s previously lifeless pass rush. Commanders EDGE Von Miller, 36, looked like he was back in his Super Bowl MVP prime. Justin Herbert’s last three fantasy finishes are QB22 (vs. WAS), QB20 (@ NYG), and QB12 (vs. DEN). The Dolphins’ allowance of the NFL’s fourth-most fantasy quarterback points keeps Herbert QB1 playable, but he’s been under heavy duress for weeks. … With Omarion Hampton (ankle) sent to I.R., the Bolts will turn to some combination of 6-foot-2, 228-pound plodder Hassan Haskins and 2024 sixth-round pick Kimani Vidal, who’s been bouncing on and off L.A.’s practice squad. Haskins’ career YPC average is 3.0 on 64 carries. Vidal is a more athletic, versatile back. This is an entirely to-be-determined backfield, even against Miami’s league-worst run defense. I’m guessing Haskins will get the first crack at early-down carries and around the goal line.
