Monday Night Football

LA Chargers @ New Orleans
Team Totals: Saints 29.25, Chargers 21.75

Deservedly anointed Los Angeles’ rest-of-season starter by coach Anthony Lynn, Justin Herbert visits the Superdome having thrown for 290-plus yards in each of his first three NFL starts, padded his stats with 15.7 rushing yards per game, and flashed an ability to elevate teammates from his weaponry to the Chargers’ injury-riddled offensive line. Although I wouldn’t yet be willing to trust Herbert in start-one-QB leagues, he is an upside QB2 play on Monday night with a higher ceiling than Drew Brees on one-game DFS slates. Allowing the league’s fifth-most fantasy QB points, the Saints’ defense has coughed up 89 completions on 137 attempts (65%) for 1,012 yards (7.4 YPA) and an 11:3 TD-to-INT ratio to Herbert’s position. … Austin Ekeler’s (hamstring/knee) probable month-plus absence vaults Joshua Kelley to the forefront of L.A.’s backfield with Justin Jackson behind him. After Kelley out-touched Jackson 12 to 8 and out-snapped him 57% to 40% last week, we should probably anticipate a 60:40 split favoring Kelley.
