Detroit @ L.A. Chargers

Team Totals: Lions 25, Chargers 23.5

The Lions followed up Jahmyr Gibbs’ Week 8 Monday night breakout with a Week 9 bye that nursed David Montgomery (rib) back to full health while giving HC Dan Campbell and OC Ben Johnson a pause to reassess their backfield distribution. It sounds like Gibbs’ going-forward role will grow when compared to his early-season, change-of-pace usage, but he’s still going to share with Montgomery, ostensibly on a near-50-50 basis. “He’s going to get his fair share now,” Campbell stated on Monday. “I don’t think I see Gibbs getting 65 plays. I think it’ll be a little bit by committee and make sure (both) those guys get their touches.” In an offense averaging 25 points per game — ninth most in the league — both Montgomery and Gibbs can be every-week RB2 starters. The Chargers have surrendered the NFL’s second-most catches (58) and second-most receiving yards (426) to enemy backs, suggesting Week 10’s matchup favors Gibbs. … Even on the road, Jared Goff is a locked-in QB1 starter against a Bolts defense permitting the most fantasy quarterback points in the league. Goff stands to benefit from the returns of C Frank Ragnow (calf/toe) and LG Jonah Jackson (ankle), who combined to miss four games before Detroit’s Week 9 bye.

Goff’s 2023 target distribution: Amon-Ra St. Brown 78; Sam LaPorta 59; Gibbs 33; Josh Reynolds 31; Kalif Raymond 23; Jameson Williams 15; Montgomery 10. … St. Brown has 100+ yards and/or a TD in every game this year, while the Chargers have yielded the league’s seventh-most receiving yards (1,530) to enemy wideouts.
