Carolina @ N.Y. Jets

Team Totals: Panthers 22, Jets 20.5

Having limited Bryce Young to 30 pass attempts or fewer in four straight games — and won three — the Panthers have established an offensive formula that treats their undersized quarterback as a game manager and leans heavily into the run. Carolina is getting O-Line reinforcements with C Austin Corbett (knee) coming off I.R. and RT Taylor Moton (elbow) due back from a one-week absence. Early-season feature back Chuba Hubbard (calf) is also returning, although likely as the smaller end of a 65/35 timeshare with Rico Dowdle, who set a franchise record with 473 yards from scrimmage over the last two weeks. He’s the first NFL player to total 200 yards in consecutive games since Dalvin Cook in 2020. As running back units facing the Jets have averaged 27 touches per game, I’m projecting 17 for Dowdle here and 10 for Hubbard in an above-average on-paper draw. … I have Week 7 optimism for Young in that I expect him to be efficient against a Jets defense surrendering the NFL’s fourth-highest passer rating (110) while generating the league’s third-lowest pressure rate (13.5%). Corbett and Moton’s returns help Young just as much as the run game, while WR Jalen Coker (quad) and TE Ja’Tavion Sanders (ankle) are due back, too.
