New England @ Miami
Team Totals: Dolphins 28.5, Patriots 18.5
Mac Jones turned in arguably his career-best game in Week 7’s upset of Buffalo powered by clean pass protection against a Bills defense decimated by injury. Jones took just four hits and one sack on 31 dropbacks. He’ll face far more pressure via Dolphins DC Vic Fangio, whose defense ranks No. 3 in the NFL in sacks (24). On a one-for-one basis, I’d rather take my chances on Miami’s D/ST than Jones in a two-QB/Superflex league. … Although Rhamondre Stevenson out-snapped Ezekiel Elliott 39 to 21 against the Bills, Zeke swiped 11 touches compared to Stevenson’s 15 and remains a nuisance to Stevenson’s weekly workloads. The Dolphins have provided a middling matchup for enemy running backs in terms of both real-life efficiency and fantasy scoring allowed. Projected for negative script, Stevenson is a dicey RB2.
Jones’ 2023 target distribution: Kendrick Bourne 48; Stevenson 30; Hunter Henry 29; JuJu Smith-Schuster 23; Pop Douglas 22; DeVante Parker 21; Mike Gesicki 19; Zeke 16. … Despite limited athletic traits, Bourne has emerged as Jones’ go-to guy. Over the last two weeks, Jones has connected with Bourne on 16 of 18 targets (89%) for 152 yards and a touchdown.
