New Orleans @ Detroit
Team Totals: Saints 29, Lions 25
Amid national accusations of being washed and withered, Drew Brees delivered Week 3’s QB10 fantasy score on year highs in adjusted yards per attempt (9.7) and passer rating (127.8) against Green Bay’s typically stingy pass defense. Although much of Brees’ production was attributable to Alvin Kamara quite literally putting the offense on his back and breaking open-field tackles like a madman, Brees has a chance to build on last week’s box score in alpha WR Michael Thomas’ (ankle) return. Brees is sure to experience squeaky-clean pockets at Ford Field; Sports Info Solutions has charted Matt Patricia’s team with the NFL’s lowest pressure rate (16%) and New Orleans with the third-lowest pressure rate allowed (20%). Since the beginning of 2019, Brees’ yards per pass attempt sky from 6.4 when pressured to 8.0 when clean, and his on-target throw rate leaps from 69% to 82%. … Even with Thomas back, Kamara should remain the star of New Orleans’ show versus a Charmin-soft Lions front that Bears, Packers, and Cardinals backs ethered for 72/439/2 (6.10 YPC) rushing and an average of 184.7 total yards per game in Weeks 1-3.
