The Rams’ D/ST is a better Week 9 fantasy play than any member of the Saints. Rookie Tyler Shough — whom HC Kellen Moore says he plans to start for the rest of the season — looked overmatched all camp and in Week 8’s second half, averaging 4.3 yards per attempt and failing to engineer a single scoring drive at home against an unimposing Bucs defense. Two-TD favorites at home, the Rams are the healthiest they’ve been all year after Week 8’s bye. … Alvin Kamara has touched the ball 127 times this season and doesn’t have a single gain beyond 22 yards. The 30-year-old has been toughing out an ankle injury. I’m concerned he’s simply washed up. … The Rams are a dead-middle 15th in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. As usual, Chris Olave is a volume-driven WR2 gamble. I do not believe Shough is an upgrade on Spencer Rattler as it relates to Olave or Rashid Shaheed’s box-score outlook. (I also believe Shaheed will be on another NFL team’s roster by next week, with Devaughn Vele next in line for WR usage.) … Juwan Johnson is still playing over 70% of the Saints’ offensive snaps every week, and last week caught three of six targets from Shough for 35 yards. I’m considering Johnson a mid-range TE2 with reduced touchdown probability.
