Dynasty Outlook and Profile Summary
April 18
Kaleb Johnson is our RB5 for rookie drafts and checks in as RB20 in our overall dynasty ranks. There is not a long history of production for Johnson, but the scouts still see him as someone who can make an impact and be a three-down player. Certainly, his size allows him to carry a heavy load. Johnson is likely going to fit best in a zone blocking scheme, which limits the amount of teams that could draft him. That puts Johnson at some risk to fall later than expected in the draft. Johnson has decent comps, and while he is not a particularly alluring style of player due to his lack of speed, we are always seeking cheap workhorses in fantasy football. Johnson is someone who could provide immediate value in dynasty.

By the Numbers
Johnson was a three-star prospect and made an immediate impact as a true freshman running behind Leshon Williams. He was not able to displace Williams in either 2022 or 2023, and the Hawkeyes had one of the worst offenses in college football under Brian Ferentz. Johnson did contribute on kick returns during this time, averaging 26.8 yards per return.
