Who said they didn’t enjoy a good ole shitbag event? The Mexico Open brought the intensity despite no top players participating in it, as we got to watch Brian Campbell go into a playoff against 20-year-old Aldrich Potgieter for the top prize and an automatic spot in The Masters later this year. From a DFS perspective, it was an excellent week for ETR subs and a positive week for myself, as we rode fellow contributor Sky’s Value Report into big money. With golf continuing to heat up as we get further and further away from the NFL season, I can’t help but get excited for what will hopefully be a big summer for the ETR crew. The season continues to the Cognizant Classic this week, or the Honda Classic for you old people that refuse to acknowledge anything new. Shout-out to discord seniors brasi, lsahr, and THE Kyle. Let’s start off how we always do and check out the previous week before we move on to the upcoming contests.

Mexico Open – Recap

I noted that the Mexico Open was one of my favorite events of the year because of the pure variability of it — and our trip to Vidanta Vallarta did not disappoint. While a lot of the chalk players ended up making the cut, putting the 6/6 rate at about 20%, it truly was a week for the low-priced, low-owned nuclear performance. For me, it was quite a disappointing Sunday, as I entered the day with about a 10% chance to win the lottery according to live sims in the industry, and sat atop the Sand Trap for a while and had the most PHR of my competitors. Alas, Patrick Rodgers and Alex Smalley ended up failing me on the back 9, but it feels like I’m putting myself in pretty good positions in the lotto week after week. Quick shout-out to Sky for coming in third in the lotto, as he just continues to crush it in all sports and formats. Let’s take a look at the winning lineup:

  • The lineup used an extremely rare 9/9/8/7/7/6 build, leaving $2,000 on the table on the nose. I almost never leave more than $1,000 on the table, so even though this is a lottery winner, I’m not sure how much we can take from it. This lineup also did not have the winner, Brian Campbell, so it really was a true sun run here to get the top prize.
  • It did come in with a 63% cumulative ownership, within my normal range of 60-80% at least. That just goes to show that, even with leaving money on the table, we can still follow pretty basic ownership rules to allow ourselves the ability to create winning lineups.

That’s enough of the Mexico Open for me. Let’s move on.
