I’ll be adding a little Trade Rumors to Watch section to the usual Injuries to Watch section, so check back for that this afternoon!
Sacramento Kings at Cleveland Cavaliers (back end)
Team Totals: Kings 114, Cavs 110
Injury Report: Cavs haven’t submitted yet
Kings projected starters: De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes
Cavs projected starters: Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Isaac Okoro, Larry Nance, Jarrett Allen
Walton quotes: Said his team has still been playing well overall, said Ben Simmons getting scratched wasn’t an excuse against the 76ers.
Bickerstaff quotes: Said he’s not sure why his team starts slow sometimes, said he wants Darius Garland to be more aggressive, said Lamar Stevens brings toughness to the team and he was “superb” on Saturday, said he wants more pace and tempo in the offense, said teams are daring them to shoot 3-pointers now.
Stats and Notes:
*Man, the Kings, and is this Walton’s last game at the end of the road trip? The new starting lineup has actually been great on the year at a +12.3 net rating (221 minutes, 107.9 D), but the problem is it has been torched in the last five games with a 122.6 D rating. The Cavs will get their points today despite ranking 27th in O rating this month. Both Darius Garland and Sexton are great targets with Garland offering slightly more upside at his price. Plus, Larry Nance has been mispriced since his return despite some quiet stat lines.
*Elite on-ball defenders have been able to slow down Fox, but Isaac Okoro isn’t there yet. This sets up great for Fox here, and he’s been absolutely locked in on shooting off drives at 62.1% made off those shots. Walton is on his last legs and he knows who his best player is offensively. Fox should be fed in a big way today.
*The Cavs have also been really bad at defending the boards lately, so this could be a really great spot for Richaun Holmes, especially if Luke is coaching for his job. Plus, Jarrett Allen isn’t really much of a foul drawer (and it’s really just Sexton), so his floor should be very attractive today. I’m also into Jarrett Allen today, and Bickerstaff was talking a bit how the guards scoring so much should eventually help the bigs.
