Preseason DFS is a different beast. Unlike the regular season, our main job is to identify players who will get the most playing time. Of course, that’s easier said than done. Our team spends an unhealthy amount of time researching to come up with the Depth Chart Notes, Top Plays (below), and Live Show. Note that the Live Show will begin at 1:00 p.m. ET today.

Quarterback

TIER 1

Matt Corral, Carolina – Carolina enters today’s game with four quarterbacks, but we suspect this will be the Matt Corral Show after Bryce Young exits with the starters early. 13-year veteran Andy Dalton isn’t expected to play much, if at all, and the team has indicated they want to give their 2022 third-round pick plenty of preseason opportunities. Corral was a willing runner at Ole Miss, racking up 334/1,338/18 in 37 career games.

TIER 2

Easton Stick, L.A. Chargers – We know HC Brandon Staley doesn’t like to use regular-season contributors in the preseason. That means Stick will get the start and play alongside the Chargers’ most talented group of reserve receivers, likely for the entire first half.

Max Duggan, L.A. Chargers – A 2022 seventh-round pick, Duggan should get the second half to himself Saturday night. A capable runner of his own, Duggan went for 488/1,856/28 during his four-year career at TCU.

Zach Wilson, N.Y. Jets – Wilson got the start in last week’s HoF game before giving way to Tim Boyle and Chris Streveler. Now he’s got another week under his belt and Streveler is on I.R. We could see Wilson’s snaps ramp up throughout the preseason, giving him access to a full half of playing time.

Cooper Rush, Dallas – With Dak Prescott expected to sit, Rush should get the start Friday and play most, if not all, of the first half.

Will Grier, Dallas – Grier will come on in relief for Rush, likely playing the entirety of the second half. His 2022 preseason marred by a groin injury, Grier is hoping to make a push for the 53-man roster.

TIER 3

Tim Boyle, N.Y. Jets – Boyle will likely get the second half — and maybe more — after Wilson’s group exits.

TIER 4

Stetson Bennett, L.A. Rams – Even with Matthew Stafford sidelined, the Rams have three QBs capable of taking Friday night snaps. However, indications from LA.’s coaching staff seem to suggest they want to give Bennett a majority of those opportunities.
