We’re going to get a lot of stuff wrong, but sifting through usage metrics can help us work through what matters and what doesn’t. That’s the goal of this article: to break down the most actionable takeaways from each week in a concise, numbers-filled format and work through what’s important. Let’s get right to it:

1. One week removed from a 19-carry, 107-yard outing, Breece Hall was the clear RB1 for the Jets. Hall got 10 of 13 RB carries in Week 2 and ran 14 routes on 31 dropbacks, an increase from his 30.8% route rate in Week 1. Braelon Allen played just nine snaps, though it was admittedly poor game script for him with New York trailing all game. Three running backs still played for New York, but it’s encouraging to see Hall distance himself from Allen and Isaiah Davis.

2. Tyler Johnson is the clear WR3 for the Jets. With Josh Reynolds out, Johnson ran 30 routes vs. just 10 for Allen Lazard. Johnson isn’t fantasy-relevant, but it’s worth mentioning in case Reynolds misses more time.

3. Mason Taylor‘s snap rate dropped to 72.3% in Week 2. He was questionable entering the game, and Aaron Glenn noted pregame he may be a little limited. It’s worth watching his practice participation ahead of Week 3.

4. The Bills led all game, but it still wasn’t ideal to see Keon Coleman play just 50.7% of snaps after getting an 88.2% snap rate in Week 1. Khalil Shakir played 49.3% of snaps, Josh Palmer 50.7%, Elijah Moore 40.0%, and Tyrell Shavers 33.3%. This was highly abnormal game script, but Buffalo is a double-digit favorite again in Week 3, so there’s blowout risk with Coleman/Shakir again on Thursday.

5. Dalton Kincaid ran a route on 51.9% of dropbacks in Week 1 and 59.3% in Week 2. In 2024, he ran a route on 58.2% of dropbacks.
