Kirk Cousins agreed to a two-year, $66 million extension in March that ties him to the Vikings through 2022. The new deal was not indicative of GM Rick Spielman haphazardly doubling down; Cousins is one of just six NFL quarterbacks to clear 50 touchdown passes, 7.5 yards per attempt, and a 65% completion rate over the past two seasons. Yet Cousins was stripped this offseason of difference-maker Stefon Diggs – who ranked top three in yards per route run in 2019 – and is tasked with engineering a run-heavy offense with diminished weaponry behind one of the league’s shakiest lines. Cousins’ lack of rushing production lowers his floor and ceiling as a two-quarterback-league selection and little more.
