Passing Game Overview
Tua Tagovailoa’s 2022 season was crippled by (at least) three brain injuries. The Fins went 8-0 in Tua’s initial eight healthy games, only to drop all four December contests, and Tagovailoa was concussed again in Week 16. With Tua under center, Miami played elite offense; Tagovailoa led the league in yards per attempt (8.9), TD Rate (6.3%), QB rating (105.5), yards per completion (13.7), and completion rate on throws 20-plus yards downfield (72%). Tua doesn’t run enough for high-end QB1 scoring value, but he can be a near-every-week starter by avoiding further concussions in Miami’s QB-friendly system.
In his first season with Miami, Tyreek Hill set career highs in targets (170), catches, and yards with a mammoth 119/1,710/7 receiving line. Across the NFL, only Justin Jefferson had more receptions and yards. Hill might have flirted with 2,000 yards if Tagovailoa had stayed healthy all year. Hill still finished No. 1 in the league in yards per route run (3.4) and was fantasy’s overall WR4 despite moving on from Patrick Mahomes. Firmly in his prime, Tyreek is a surefire top-five fantasy pick this season.
