Mitchell Trubisky won Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback job out of training camp but was outplayed by first-round pick Kenny Pickett in preseason and figures to be on a short leash. Things could get ugly fast for Trubisky behind the Steelers’ swinging-gate offensive line at Cincinnati, which in 2021 finished top 11 in QB hurries (75), QB knockdowns (53), sacks (42), and QB pressures (170). It’s a mere matter of time before Pickett takes over. … Najee Harris nursed a Lisfranc foot sprain for most of August but received medical clearance ahead of Pittsburgh’s preseason finale, handling seven touches. Although I worry about Harris’ 2022 efficiency in a challenging offensive environment, he looks all set to command a full Week 1 workload at Cincinnati. In last year’s two meetings with the Bengals, Harris managed 63 scoreless yards on 22 carries (2.9 YPC) but tallied 17 combined catches. He’s a backend RB1 in Week 1. … Due to Harris’ hefty projected usage and in-camp injury, UDFA rookie Jaylen Warren is one of my favorite bench stashes. Warren convincingly beat out Benny Snell for Pittsburgh’s No. 2 tailback job.
