Atlanta Hawks at Miami Heat

Team Totals: Hawks 106, Heat 113

Injury Report: Bogdan Bogdanovic (P, ankle), Bam Adebayo (Q, quad), Dewayne Dedmon (Q, ankle), Markieff Morris (Q, hip), P.J. Tucker (Q, calf), Haywood Highsmith (Q, hip), Gabe Vincent (P, toe)

Hawks projected starters: Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, De’Andre Hunter, Danilo Gallinari, Onyeka Okongwu

Heat projected starters: Kyle Lowry, Max Strus, Jimmy Butler, P.J. Tucker, Bam Adebayo

McMillan quotes: Basically just talked about how good Miami was, said they have to get to their third and fourth options a little more against the Miami defense, said John Collins was good in his return and better than expected.

Spoelstra quotes: Said he expects the Hawks to look a lot better on Tuesday, said P.J. Tucker’s highlight reel should be played at rookie orientation, said Caleb Martin will have an impact at some point after getting booted from rotation, said P.J. Tucker came out OK after Game 1, said Bam doesn’t give a S-H-I-T about scoring and he was good in his return.

Stats and Notes:

*Miami’s defense took the Hawks out of their flow, as they held them to just a 79.2 O rating in the halfcourt and 88.4 O rating overall. On the other hand, the Heat smashed in their halfcourt stuff thanks to their shooting with a blistering 126.4 O rating. They didn’t even have success on the glass, and it was just a complete mismatch. The Heat were pretty lucky with their 8-of-12 on wide-open threes while the Hawks were not with a 6-of-17 on those. Still, Miami’s swarming defense gives them a huge edge here.

*The Heat threw the kitchen sink at Trae Young with Lowry, Jimmy, and even P.J. Tucker getting some reps on him. Although, he was a little unlucky going 1-of-10 on uncontested shots. The headline was they kept Trae to just eight drives with one shot off those. Miami’s length and discipline on D makes this such a tough spot for Trae, but we’ve seen him light up bad spots before.
