Establish The Run is looking for a full-time lead web developer to join our team and help build the next generation of fantasy football products and infrastructure. You’ll work across both front-end and back-end projects, evolve and maintain our platform (built on WordPress and hosted on AWS), and play a key role in shaping our technical direction.
We’re seeking someone who is not only highly capable technically, but also motivated, collaborative, and excited to work in a fast-paced, sports-focused startup environment. Previous experience at a startup or small team is helpful but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve our WordPress-based platform, including custom theme/plugin development, performance tuning, and uptime monitoring during high-traffic periods (e.g., NFL Sundays)
- Drive architectural decisions and lead the long-term frontend technical roadmap
- Coordinate cross-functional work between content and data teams to deliver integrated user experiences
- Write clean, scalable, maintainable code across front-end and back-end projects
- Integrate AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI-based testing/debugging) into your workflow for enhanced productivity
- Contribute to product strategy and help shape the future of ETR’s offerings
Skills and Experience We’re Looking For:
- Expertise in modern front-end development, including proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and experience with ReactJS or similar frameworks
- Proven experience building and owning production web applications at scale, including performance tuning, reliability, and architectural planning
- Experience working with or willingness to learn WordPress (custom themes/plugins, performance optimization)
- Familiarity with SQL/MySQL and general back-end development
- Strong understanding of caching strategies, site security, and testing frameworks
- Comfortable with version control (Git) and modern deployment workflows
- Experience supporting high-traffic events or time-sensitive releases
- Fluency using AI coding assistants and tools
Nice To Have:
- Experience managing and optimizing infrastructure in a cloud-hosted environment (AWS preferred)
- Experience with analytics tools like GA4 or Mixpanel
- Interest in or knowledge of fantasy sports or the ETR brand
- Familiarity with Google Sheets, Google Apps Script, and/or Google Drive
Logistics:
- This is a full-time remote role. While working hours can be flexible, availability during some nights and weekends is required, especially during NFL season.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and skill set
