With one week in the books, we want to update our knowledge base about every team without overreacting to a one-game sample. The NFL regular season lasts 18 weeks. Most of what happened on opening day will be largely forgotten by the time December rolls around. Throughout the season, my goal will be to provide you with a lay of the land as it relates to various awards markets while identifying potential values between sportsbooks. I’ll also be including schedule analysis, as well as some of my stances on various situations as the season progresses. As always, the foundation of my awards process is built off of my annual Who Wins Awards and Why article.

The MVP Race
Patrick Mahomes (+500 PointsBet to +600 FanDuel) vs Lamar Jackson (+1600 DraftKings, PointsBet to +2500 BetMGM)
Falling to the Raiders on Monday Night Football was not a positive for Lamar’s MVP case, but the game that truly matters for Lamar’s MVP candidacy is this week when the Ravens host the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. If Lamar wins, his stock will be on the rise leading into Baltimore’s visit to Detroit in Week 3. If Mahomes wins, he will increase his lead on top of the MVP race heading into yet another difficult matchup for the Chiefs when they host Justin Herbert‘s Chargers in Week 3. If Mahomes comes through this stretch with a 3-0 record, he will control his own destiny in the MVP race.
