Memphis Grizzlies (back end) at Detroit Pistons (back end)

Team Totals: Grizzlies 108.5, Pistons 124

Injury Report: Both teams on a B2B

Grizzlies projected starters: Ty Jerome, Javon Small, Jaylen Wells, GG Jackson II, O-Max Prosper

Pistons projected starters: Cade Cunningham, Duncan Robinson, Marcus Sasser, Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren

IIsalo quotes: Said their defense wasn’t very good and they were too vulnerable around the basket, said they “didn’t give enough friction on the backcourt” and that cost them “with a very small squad.”

Bickerstaff quotes: Said they did what they were supposed to do against the Nets, said Duren has taken big steps to dominate on both ends of the floor, said Sasser “is dynamic” and he can guard on-ball fullcourt, said they value their depth and they can use it when they play on a B2B.

Stats and Notes:

*Oof, what a mismatch. The Grizzlies are arguably the worst paint defense right now, while the Pistons are one of the best in the league. The Grizzlies cannot rebound right now, and the Pistons may double them up on the boards (triple?). Memphis just doesn’t have enough to deal with the ferocious defense from Detroit. This should be a massive blowout even if the Grizzlies sit their guys again. Although I could see Cade Cunningham getting the night off on a B2B.

*You would think that the Grizzlies have some of their guys back, but who knows with these guys? I would not want to play any of them against one of the best defenses in the league unless the Pistons mass rest.

*There’s a decent chance that Cade Cunningham sits this one out. Last weekend, J.B. Bickerstaff said that Cade is dealing with this injury, and he made it sound like he could miss more time. Sure, he was likely just bluffing to avoid a fine, but he could miss.

*If Jalen Duren goes, he gets the easiest matchup in the league for him. The only concern would be that he doesn’t get the minutes in a blowout. We’ll have this info on the Injury Show.

Great matchups: Jalen Duren, Isaiah Stewart

Good matchups: Cade Cunningham

Bad matchups: All the Grizzlies playing around 22-26 minutes
