The Zurich Classic is finally here. The PGA Tour’s last-ditch effort to spite the data bros and give ball knowers a chance to shine is once again upon us. The Zurich is the only team event on the regular PGA Tour schedule, with players in two-man teams playing a best ball format in Round 1, alternate shot in Round 2, followed by a cut, and then best ball once again in Round 3 and alt shot again in the final round. As you might expect, the field isn’t exactly what you would describe as star-studded. Just two of the world’s top 25 will be in attendance this week, with quite a few names who have no business being involved in a PGA Tour event in 2026. Alas, it’s a fun change of pace that typically provides some compelling alternate-shot drama come Sunday afternoon.
The Course:
TPC Louisiana, designed by Pete Dye, is set to host the Zurich once again in 2026. A typical par-72 layout, TPC Louisiana has four par 5s, four par 3s, and 10 par 4s, playing 7,425 yards on the scorecard and longer in reality, given typically soft conditions. The greens this week will be poa overseed, while the fairways and rough will be Bermuda.
